Install PDF Studio on Windows

Updated October 21, 2026

One installer gives you PDF Studio, with Documents, the Word-compatible editor, built in.

Before you start

You need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). See System requirements for the rest.

Steps

  1. Go to the Download page and choose Download free. If you’re not signed in yet, you’ll be asked to sign in or create a free account first.
  2. Open the file you downloaded, for example pdf-studio-1.0.0-setup.exe. It’s usually in your Downloads folder.
  3. The installer installs PDF Studio by itself, with no questions to answer, and opens PDF Studio when it’s done. It also adds a shortcut to the Start menu and to your desktop.
  4. Next time, open it from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
  5. If PDF Studio isn’t your default app for PDF files, a bar at the top of the window offers Make default…. Choose it to pick PDF Studio in Windows Settings, or choose Not now. See Make PDF Studio your default PDF app.

Where’s Documents?

Documents is part of PDF Studio, not a separate app with its own icon. Word files open in PDF Studio in a tab of their own. To start a new Word document, choose File › New Document (Ctrl+N). To open a PDF or a Word file, choose File › Open… (Ctrl+O).

If something goes wrong

  • Windows says it protected your PC. Windows may show this for a newly downloaded installer. Choose More info, check that the file is the pdf-studio-…-setup.exe you downloaded from this site, then choose Run anyway.
  • The download didn’t start. Sign in and use the download button on your account page instead.
  • Still stuck? Contact us and tell us what you see.
