Make PDF Studio your default PDF app
Updated October 21, 2026
Windows only lets you choose your default apps yourself, so PDF Studio takes you to the right place in Windows Settings.
Steps
- In PDF Studio, choose Help › Make PDF Studio the Default PDF App…. You can also choose Make default… on the bar that appears at the top of the window when PDF Studio isn’t your default.
- Windows Settings opens at Default apps.
- Windows 11: it opens at PDF Studio’s own page. Select the .pdf box, choose PDF Studio, then Set default.
- Windows 10: choose Choose default apps by file type, find .pdf, and choose PDF Studio.
- Close Settings. PDF files now open in PDF Studio when you double-click them.
If something goes wrong
- The bar keeps asking. Choose Not now to hide it until next time, or Don’t ask again to stop it for good. You can still use the Help menu later.
- PDF Studio isn’t in the list. The installer is what registers PDF Studio as an app that opens PDFs. Install it from the Download page, then try again.
