Check spelling and grammar

Documents underlines words it doesn’t know as you type, and can take you through each one in turn.

Fix one word

Right-click an underlined word, then choose a suggestion, Ignore All or Add to Dictionary.

Check the whole document

1. On the Review tab, choose Spelling, or press F7.
2. The Spelling and Grammar pane shows the next word that isn’t in the dictionary, selected in the text, with suggestions.
3. Pick a suggestion and choose Change, or Change All to fix it everywhere. Or choose Ignore Once, Ignore All or Add to Dictionary.
4. For a grammar issue, the pane explains it and offers a fix. Ignore Rule Here leaves it alone.
5. The check moves on by itself and tells you when it’s complete.

Choose the language

Choose Edit › Preferences… (Ctrl+K), then Language, and tick a dictionary. Documents checks with the first dictionary you tick. With none ticked, it uses your computer’s language.
